Painting the kitchen

We have a red kitchen.  It's been red for maybe 10 or 12 years and I'm thinking of changing the color.  I like my red kitchen, but I'm ready for a change.  Do you ever get tired of a room color?

I pulled out my book of color chips the other day and started going through colors.

I love the look of "old English country kitchens".

The English Home magazine

Paging though many of my English Home magazines recently, I found that most of the kitchens are a soft white or warm yellow color.

So this is the color I'm thinking about (the one marked with the x).

I have a lot of time to think about this project because it will not be tackled until the cancer treatment is over and I'm once again feeling strong and back to my old self.
Something to look forward to now that I've decided.

Can't wait!

A painting

I was recently commissioned to do a painting of a dog named Sydney.

Here is the finished pet painting commemorating Sydney

who today resides in "Doggie Heaven"

but shall live on in this small

reminder.

I tried to capture that cute smile that he has in the photo above.
Hope I did so.

PS Sydney's parents missed his companionship,
and now they have "Rufus"
and you can meet him here.

Enjoy your weekend!

Painting again...

this time in the kitchen. When I had my paints out the other day painting here, I carried them into the kitchen and painted above the cupboards.

I added some hand painted gold wavy branches and leaves along the top of the cupboards just below the crown molding.

I'm happy with the way it turned out. Simple but just enough to add a little personality.

Painter's tip

This is something I've always done. Thought it might be worth sharing.

After painting a room, pour some of the paint in a glass jar. Mark the lid with the color and the room you painted. Then, if you ever need to touch up some small nicks or scratches, it's very easy to just open the jar and put a dab of paint wherever you need it.

Last week's madness

This is how my art table looked last week! I was painting all sorts of holiday crafts for a holiday event (which turned out to be a very small event and a bit disappointing) and not very much buying or selling going on, but we did have a good time and I'm now in the holiday spirit.

All of these things...

and much more...

you will find on my etsy shop very soon. Be sure to check out some of my Christmas cards that are in the shop already.

Interior painting

I do lots of painting around the house. My creativity sometimes gets the best of me. I decided to paint the back screened in porch. Having loved the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun, I decided to paint "bramasole", which means "to yearn for sun" (that would be me!) on the upper part of the porch around the ceiling. I painted some vines around the top too.

Another project I did was a shutter for a small bathroom window. I had my husband, Galen, make four panels out of wood. I painted the four panels, put on hardware, and fitted them to the window. It looks great!
