Painting

"Glossy Colonial Red" is now the color of my old gray blue wicker table that stands beside my art table.  It needed an uplift and what better color than cheery red (quick and easy with spray paint).  I think this is actually a sewing table but I use it for my art supplies.  Works great.

And on my art table is a 36 x 24 canvas that I am painting for my sister and brother-in-law.  They want something for their new home in Arizona which will hang in their guest house.  A western scene.

These past few weeks have been crazy.  We had two commissioned wooden toy marble rollers, one purple "Carnival", and the other a blue "Sea Shell" which had deadlines and are now packed and shipped.  The marble rollers are fun to paint because I can use bright happy colors for kids.

One more paint project is a hanging plant holder for herbs or flowers.  A "barn red" color with a little purple flower on each side.  We just had a request for a black one, so that will be next.  You can find these in our shop, or if we are sold out just let us know what color you would like and we will be happy to make one for you.

Lots of painting, lots of colors and lots of different projects.  I am thankful I have these to work on during the long cold gray days we've been having lately.  It seems winter has returned.  Time goes faster when you're busy, right?  And I can hardly wait for spring!

North Carolina State Fair

After radiation on Friday, Galen and I stopped by the NC State Fair.
He was interested in our Whimsy Two Marble Roller Toy that we entered (to see if it won any ribbons), and I just wanted to eat some fair food!
Well, we won third place in the Toy Professional Division this year!  Yay!  Last year we took first place, but considering what all we've been through this year.....we'll take third.
A pretty white ribbon.
And we had our share of fair food too.  From Italian sausages and fries to funnel cakes and ice cream.
Here are a few photos we took of the fair.  We had a great time.

(above) The Wiener Mobile!  Just had to get a photo of that.

A fun project

This is a cat and dog seesaw whirligig that just came out of Galen's woodshop. All handmade. I had fun painting it in bright whimsical colors.

He hand carved the cat and dog figures and added pipe cleaners for tails. The seesaw moves up and down as the fan spins and the whole platform turns in the wind.

I don't know where he comes up with these ideas!

Kinda cute though.

Find it at whimsytwo.

Just another piece of whimsical folk art.

A trip to the groomer

We're getting our nails done today.......or maybe we should say, we're getting them "clipped". That sounds more manly, after all, we are boys, aren't we, Otis?

Look, Riley, there's the Golden Corral. Wow.

Our groomer is a very nice lady. She owns the "Heavenly Pooch Pet Salon". Her name is Pam. We really like her.

She always gives us treats when we're finished. We like to walk around and socialize a bit, too, before we leave.

And guess what we always do after we get our nails clipped?

We go to the park!

Our nails sure do look good, Riley. I know, Otis. That was fun.

Be sure to check whimsytwo for some doxy cards and prints.

That's us, Riley. I know, Otis.

Purple, red and yellow...

the colors of the bird house I just painted.

It has little sunflowers all along the sides. So bright and cherry, I'm sure our feathered friends will love it!

This will be listed on my etsy shop, whimsytwo, so check it out, and while you're there, take some time to browse and see all the other whimsical gifts.

Have a sunny day!

Whimsytwo

I've been working on my etsy shop! It's pretty much fun to have a shop to sell things!
The shop is called "whimsytwo" (for hubby and me) since we both have a hand in all of the projects that go in it. We had items left over from the whirligig festival, so they are now in the shop!

So feel free to take a peek inside if you like! I'm going to be working on some holiday items next.

Enjoy your day!
