Wings over Wayne Air Show

The Wings over Wayne Air Show was held at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base this past Saturday and Sunday.

It was a beautiful day, blue skys, and temps around 90 degrees (maybe a little too hot), but we enjoyed every minute of it.

When we got there, there were busses to transport us in.

After we got checked through the security gates, there were tents everywhere ~ food, drinks, souvenirs ~ and aircraft as far as you could see.

Here is a huge plane that we went though, a C-47 (I'm told). I don't know much about planes, so bear with me.

Coast Guard aircraft.

Galen, being in the Coast Guard many moons ago, enjoyed talking to some of the coasties.

The "Memphis Belle"!

It was funny to see everyone sitting under the wings in the shade to cool off .

Maddie taking a break and cooling off in the shade. Quite a big day!

It was a great event! If you've never been to an air show, I highly recommend it!

Ivy

If you have some ivy growing in your garden, dig it up, put it in a pretty pot (this one I got at Goodwill for $1.75) and bring it in the house.

Ivy is a nice plant to use in decorating. It brings greenery and freshness to your room.

Chasing the merry-go-round

We took our granddaughter, Maddie, and Otis and Riley to the park on Sunday. Otis and Riley were worn out after chasing the merry-go-round.

A short video ~ watch them run!

Pickle Festival

Mount Olive, NC, had it's Pickle Festival on Saturday. It was a great day for a festival, temps in the 80's near 90 degrees (maybe a little too hot)!

Our daughter, Jen, was there for the day with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and we helped as volunteers.

The festival was well attended. Here you can see some of the funny pickle souvenirs.

The pickle packing challenge.

Vendors lined up on main streets and along the railroad tracks (trains were not running that day).

Our granddaughter found some fun things to do.

And after a long hot day at the festival, Maddie and Papa were pretty exhausted.

Red

Red is one of my favorite colors.

Red is the color of passion, the color of excitement, the color of heat, the color of opulence.

Ferns

Do you have ferns in your garden?

I think they're such lovely plants. Each spring I find two coming up in the back yard. Living in a moist, shady, undisturbed spot ~ one in a little corner by the porch steps, and the other in the back yard by the garden table.

Ferns are so green, like spring itself! Their fronds add a pretty texture to a garden.

Show time

George Tabor and Lady Banks are putting on quite the show, and every spring I look forward to their debut. It's their time of year to show off.
