Flea market shopping, antiquing and vintage consignments

In the heart of North Carolina is the town of Asheboro.  A town worth spending the day in... browsing antique shops, looking for treasures in the vintage and consignment shops and enjoying a bit of lunch and a cup of coffee.  

The town murals are interesting and fun, painted by one of the local artists.  

Up and down main street you can find all kinds of shops.  

And all kinds of treasures!  

I found a few of my own treasures, one being, the old bankers lamp, or desk lamp with the green shade.  I have been looking for one of these for quite some time.  A real bargain at $15.  

I am always on the look-out for shops like these!  I love finding small towns filled with lots of wonderful old treasures.

A window project

I took an old discarded window that was put in the trash, and painted some bright happy sunflowers on the glass panes.

Then I put some eye hooks on the top of the frame.

I hung it on the back screened-in porch, and when the sun shines in, it lights up with a warm glow of golden sunflowers.

A trash to treasure.

Treasures

I hopped over to Goodwill the other day while running errands and found this cute little bunny rabbit. I just had to have him. He's sitting on the dining room table with my other treasures that also came from Goodwill.

The dish with roses was made in Spain, and the teapot was made in England.

Isn't it great when you can find some real treasures for only a few dollars?!

Treasure find

I found some wonderful dishes at an antique/junk store a few months ago and now I can finally use them.

Christmas dessert dishes that say ~ "a partridge in a pear tree". I love the gold with the white. It's a set of 6 dessert plates, 6 cups and six saucers and I only paid $8 for all.



The cups have little gold partridges on the inside and around the rim on the outside it reads "on the first day of Christmas". The saucers say "my true love gave to me".

I can't wait to use them. They should look great with my china.

And on an outside note...

I dug up some ivy from the garden and put it in a basket and set it on the garden table for the winter. Ivy is great for displaying in pots during the winter season when not much else is growing.

I think I'll hit the garden center today and buy some ornamental cabbages and maybe some pansies for color.
