Welcome sun

What a beautiful day it is today and I'm feeling as good as can be expected.

The garden is so lush and green right now.  A couple of days of heavy rain made a big difference.
We have three raised beds in our vegetable garden in the back yard.

This year we planted broccoli, lettuce, onions, red beets, tomatoes, and potatoes.  We also have a strawberry patch, blueberries, and a peach tree.

It's great to walk out to the garden and know you have healthy food right at your fingertips.

Tomorrow I'm off to UNC Cancer Center again for my 4th treatment.  At this point I will be halfway through the chemotherapy.  This last one knocked me down pretty good, so tomorrow could be a doozy.

I'm hanging in there and I want to thank all of you again for your love and support.  I love readying your comments and heartfelt wishes.  It means so much to me.  Thank you for your prayers and I hope you will continue keeping me in your thoughts.

One of my friends who had gone through breast cancer last year said to me, try not to look too far ahead,  but look back and see how far you've come.  I'm keeping that in mind.

Hello Autumn

After the rain let up and the sun came out today, my chrysanthemums were so bright, they shone like the sun itself.

They sure do light up that corner of the garden!

Feeling the weather

Hello everyone! Today was the first day the sun has shone in several days. Where oh where has the sun gone?? The weather has been rainy and gray for so long I thought I'd never see it shine again, so this afternoon when the sun finally peeped it's head out, I took my cup of coffee and headed for the garden to see what's been happening. It is still very humid and warm, but the bright sun is a wonderful sight.

The garden is so green and lush. This beautiful little butterfly was sipping nectar from my purple verbena.

The Encore azaleas were putting forth pretty pink blooms. I love how they bloom twice ~ in the spring and again in the fall.

And the buds on the chrysanthemums are ready to pop. I will be enjoying these mounds of bright yellow flowers real soon.

Friday is the beginning of fall, September 23rd, the autumn equinox, marking the end of summer, and here in the south this is the best time of year to garden. Time to plant those cool weather annuals and fall vegetables, put bulbs in the ground, and add shrubs and trees.

Looking forward to beautiful days ahead, cooler weather and sunshine.

Wieners in the garden

Otis and Riley love spending time outside playing in the garden,

looking for bugs (or mice?),

always on the lookout for squirrels,

enjoying the sun,

and catching naps.

A sunny warm day calls for.......

spending time at the park.....

feeding the ducks....

walking the wieners....

and stopping to smell the flowers.

Sun-dappled porch

The sun was shining so bright this morning on the back porch, and.....even though it looked warm and inviting, it was still too cold to sit out there and finish my coffee....oh....but I wanted to.

Warmer weather, however, is on it's way ~
So......

maybe in a day or two I can have my coffee outside on the sunny porch,

with the birds.

The most perfect way to start the day, don't you think?

Sunny spot...

"There is no season when such sunny and pleasant spots may be lighted on,

and produce so pleasant effect on the feelings,

as now in October."

Finally........

SUN

and a much needed cup of coffee.

Otis and Riley and I enjoyed basking in the sunlight today. Of course, in between coffee breaks I also trimmed the hedge and pruned some bushes.

We also enjoyed a nice long walk.

And then some treats.

It was a great day to be outside.

A window project

I took an old discarded window that was put in the trash, and painted some bright happy sunflowers on the glass panes.

Then I put some eye hooks on the top of the frame.

I hung it on the back screened-in porch, and when the sun shines in, it lights up with a warm glow of golden sunflowers.

A trash to treasure.

Enjoying the sun, and an award

After days of rain, it's nice to enjoy some sun...

and a few blooms around the garden.

Strawberry blooms!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And, I received a special award from Rhondi at Rose Colored Glasses. I must confess though, she gave this to me a few weeks ago and I just realized I hadn't posted on it. (I'm sorry, Rhondi ~ sometimes I think I'm losing my mind!) You are the sweetest, and to pass this on to me means alot.
Thank you!
Hope you all have a sunny day today!
