Strawberry pot and a sign

I found this bright orange strawberry pot at Yoder's Hardware store last week and just had to have it!

After filling it with strawberries from our strawberry patch in the back of the garden I decided to put it outside the kitchen where I can see it and where it will be close to pick berries for our morning cereal.

~ Then I had this idea....

why not have a bright orange welcome sign as well?

So I painted the sign and hung it on the garden gate.  The orange goes nicely with the blue and terra cotta pots and other accessories I have in the garden.

Have a good weekend!

Good morning spring!

What a beautiful day!  The sun is shining so bright.  Just what I've been waiting for, sunshine and warm weather.   It's been a really long winter.

We have some early blooming flowers spreading a bit of color around the garden.

The pollen is here and the bees are buzzing.

Strawberry blossoms!

And the azaleas are getting ready to show their beautiful colors.

Glorious spring!

Gardening and an update

As I upload these photos today I am wishing the weather was as nice as yesterday.  A beautiful day in the high 70's, Galen and Otis and I spent the day in the garden.
As we turned the warm soil in the beds, Otis took a nap in the sunshine, in the strawberry patch, of course.  Silly dog.

We planted onions, potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower.  And I always plant marigolds around the beds.  I put in some chives, too.

The peach tree is in bloom.  I took this photo this morning, a gray morning, but I think the pink flowers are lovely and so cheery!

And an update:

For those of you who have been following my journey these past few years with breast cancer, I want you to know I am doing well.  My appointment on Thursday left me feeling very happy.  A good report ~ no cancer.  I am feeling strong, energetic and glad to have my life back.  Finally, normalcy!  I feel great.

Just wanted to let you know and to thank you for being with me and giving me encouragement when I needed it the most.  xoxo

I'm here....

and I am doing fine, just trying my best to get through this chemo.  I am now on my second half with 6 more weeks to go (3 more treatments).  Neuropathy is setting in and my fingers and feet hurt but I have more energy.

This treatment on Wednesday was really scary for me.  They started me on taxol, a very strong drug that can cause severe allergic reactions.  On one of my prior chemo treatments, the person next to me was being given taxol and had an allergic reaction to the drug and the next thing you know they are calling code blue.
How's that for scaring the living daylights out of you!

But I made it through the treatment and I'm ok.

Today I was in the garden weeding and pruning as best I could with my sore hands but the sunshine felt so nice.  I love being in the garden.

I'm trying to eat as healthy as I can but food just doesn't taste like food.  Cold food tastes best, I can't seem to get past the cooking smells.  I've been eating lots of fruits and veggies.  We still have strawberries in the garden.

I stopped at the resource center at UNC on Thursday when I was there and picked up a pretty hat and scarf.   It's funny how when you look better, you feel better.

I'll be back later.....

From the strawberry patch.....

to my cereal bowl.

Plump, sweet, juicy strawberries.
I've been picking strawberries early each morning and enjoying them in my cereal. This year the strawberry patch is doing really well, unlike last year when we didn't get quite as many.
So, we are enjoying YUMMY strawberries.
Tonight......strawberry shortcake.

Have a good day!
