"Nature" crafts

I started a few projects this week, and when I finished them, I realized they all had something to do with nature.  Funny...hadn't even thought about it until I was taking photos.

So here are my "nature" crafts I've been working on.

A white bird house for the fence post in the back garden.

I cut and pressed a fern leaf for framing.

And I painted a rock with butterflies.  This will make a great paperweight and I'll be listing this on etsy.

Simple and fun nature crafts.

Double the size

Every spring I take my houseplants outside to give them a boost. It seems they grow twice the size with all the fresh air, natural light and rain water.

The spider plant that my neighbor gave me, which was a spider plant baby, is now loaded with new babies. The snake plant above has grown so much it's now almost 4 feet tall!

A small shoot from a Christmas cactus has now grown strong and healthy and is twice the size as when I took it outside.

And my philodendron setting on the back porch loves the summer weather as it puts out a bunch of new leaves.

Give your plants a summer vacation and let them enjoy the outdoors!

Simple pleasures

A warm spring-like sunny day today brought me out of doors. Otis and Riley and I enjoyed some simple pleasures.

A walk to the park where they could run to their hearts content.

And sniff.

Some back yard gardening.

Digging in the dirt and smelling and feeling the warm earth ~ turning the soil in the raised beds as I plan what veggies I want to put in this year.

Riley in the strawberry patch....again. Does he see a squirrel?

Relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. Ahhhhhhhh..........

What a nice break in January from the very cold weather we've been having. Looking forward to spring!

Outside decorating

The outside needs decorating as well as the inside.

This is our front door with a wreath and a big red bow.

Our back door.

Let's not forget about our feathered friends.

I make sure all the feeders are filled.

This nandina berry bush is almost a decoration in itself.
The bright red berries are beautiful and also a good source of food for the birds during the cold winter months.

The great outdoors

I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I decided some fresh air and sunshine would do the trick. It was a beautiful day, a little chilly, but nice and sunny. I put Otis and Riley's leashes on, and out the door we go.

Ahhhhhhh, to breathe in that fresh fall air. Otis and Riley were so full of energy they pulled me down the street. They love to go for walks, it makes them really happy.

Nothing like a walk on a sunny day to make you feel good. On the way home, I picked up the most beautiful colored leaf. And I found some beautiful green moss growing at the foot of an old tree, I picked up a handful.

I put the moss in the flower pot that I planted with paperwhites last week. And look at the color of the leaf ~ isn't it gorgeous?

Feeling better after making a fresh pot of coffee (great for headaches and clearing your head), I decided to do some gardening.

A BIG cup of coffee.

I started raking the leaves, lots of leaves in the front yard. Otis and Riley watched from the door.

After I got tired of raking I thought I'd tackle the hedge in the back yard. It needed some trimming.

Till the day was said and done, I was feeling MUCH better and had accomplished quite a bit.

The great outdoors can do wonders for a person's frame of mind!
