"Nature" crafts

I started a few projects this week, and when I finished them, I realized they all had something to do with nature.  Funny...hadn't even thought about it until I was taking photos.   

So here are my "nature" crafts I've been working on.  

A white bird house for the fence post in the back garden.  

 I cut and pressed a fern leaf for framing.  

And I painted a rock with butterflies.  This will make a great paperweight and I'll be listing this on etsy.  

Simple and fun nature crafts.  

Sunshine, birds, and a birthday

Happy face sunshine rocks and colorful little birds. More art for the 4H Artisans Show coming up in March.

These painted Sunshine Rocks can be used in the garden, or outside on a picnic table to hold down napkins. They make pretty paperweights.

The Little Birds,on wires can be placed in a flower pot for a bit of colorful whimsy.

I'm enjoying it painting away the hours......and painting two of my favorite things ~ birds and sunshine!

Spring time and ferns

It's a beautiful day today ~ warm and sunny!

I bought my "yearly ferns" for the back porch and hung them, and now the porch seems to be saying "come and sit and enjoy".

I'm looking forward to spending lots more days on the back porch.

I've also painted some cute little rocks to put in plastic easter eggs for an egg hunt which we have every year for our granddaughter. Little keepsakes.

The Fairy

A fairy flies over the skies,

Over the seas’whispering breeze,

Winged flight flowing, up and then down,

Bubbling dreams drifting, dancing around,

The softness of flight lost in delight,

By softened cloud castles and lemon scented night,

Create quiet whispers, quieter than these

Orange blossomed blessings kissing the trees,

So listen, my child, though lateness and starlight

Illuminate the magic

of a star crossed night,

Lovers may wander while night’s face pales on,

Yet the fairy always hovers over the breath of a song.

Ladybug

What's this I see?

It's not a bee...

It skims the blossoms gracefully!

And flies at sleepy summer's pace

To each uplifted flower's face!

Oh Ladybug, I wish you joy

As you complete your garden chores

I'd like to put aside my work

And join you in the out-of-doors!

Reading and painting...

I just picked up the book "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle, one of Oprah's picks ~ it's supposed to be life changing ~ we'll see!

Also doing some painting. I finished these two little paintings on wood, one is a fruit topiary and the other lavender.

I'm also working on another rock painting, can't wait to show it to you!

Painting rocks

When I was young I painted rocks. My friends and I would get together in one of our backyards, and with our pile of rocks that we collected and some paint and a bucket of water, we created colorful pictures on each one. When finished, off we would go to all of the neighbors with hopes of selling them. We did other projects too, like making pot holders from the old hook looms and took those door to door. We were the little neighborhood entrepreneurs.

I don't remember if we sold any, but it is a childhood memory I hold dear ~ those sunny summer mornings when we had the whole day to play, giggle and have fun.

I'm still painting rocks. This is actually a paperweight (it's still a painted rock, but I'm calling it a paperweight). So, with a pile of rocks in my backyard and lots of ideas in my head, there are more rocks (paperweights) to come!
