Painting the kitchen

We have a red kitchen.  It's been red for maybe 10 or 12 years and I'm thinking of changing the color.  I like my red kitchen, but I'm ready for a change.  Do you ever get tired of a room color?

I pulled out my book of color chips the other day and started going through colors.

I love the look of "old English country kitchens".

The English Home magazine

The English Home magazine

Paging though many of my English Home magazines recently, I found that most of the kitchens are a soft white or warm yellow color.

So this is the color I'm thinking about (the one marked with the x).

I have a lot of time to think about this project because it will not be tackled until the cancer treatment is over and I'm once again feeling strong and back to my old self.
Something to look forward to now that I've decided.

Can't wait!

I did that just very recently Donna. Actually, I painted the front entry very, very chinese lacquer red and then my "red" kitchen looked raspberry! (artists...eh) I painted the kitchen a soft cream against the white cabinets and it's fresh and crisp and I love it. Also, added bonus, the ironstone and glass things shine instead of being "sucked up" by the raspberry.

I love the color you chose. I had a red dining room for a few years and then one day, just had to paint it yellow.

You have something fun to look forward too.
Hugs,
Penny

What a fun project. It seems that nuetral colors are definately in and a soft cream or pale yellow would be lovely. I used to have a red frontroom and I loved it, so I know what you mean about your kitchen...but maybe a change would be a good way to celebrate the end of your treatment.

Donna I should email you the link to a post of mine from two or three years ago. We painted our gorgeous pomegranate red kitchen a soft yellow. It took a lot of paint to cover it, and while I loved the red, I've never regretted the change!

I adore English decor and especially kitchens! Ours is a pale yellow and I love it. It's always nice to have some time to plan. Mimi

Ilove the color red, but only have it on one wall in the guest room/studio now. The older I get the lighter I want my colors-wonder why. Hope you are feeling better every day.

I was just looking through my Martha Stewart magazine and found some of her paint colors. They were all pale colors and looked so restful. My kitchen is off white and I bring color into it with accessories...I would love to paint it a soft yellow, but I would have to buy all new accessories.
It's nice to have something to look forward to.. for everyone....and after going through cancer treatment you deserve it. Keep feeling well...Balisha

It is a lovely color that you have picked for your kitchen Donna.

I get that way too, it is only natural, you have a color for so long and you must have a change. We have a pretty yellow living room right now but when we move next spring to our new house in a new state, I want the living room to be a soft blue, like I have in my bedroom, I love that color. Yes, I think I need a change. : )

LOVE your color choice. Isn't it great how a coat of paint can change the look of a room or item? It really can lift your spirits - as if you have something brand new.

Donna, I love your color choice..white wool, and your inspiration photos are "so English".
I love English style kitchens, too. I think they always look so warm and cozy. I'm going to check out English Home mag. I have one old copy, but it's a Christmas issue.
Hugs and have a great Sunday,
