Decorating has begun here at Mourning Dove Cottage.
The ornaments are hung....
and the Christmas tree is finished. I love red and gold and those are the colors I usually use in my decorating. The tree is decked out with some vintage Christmas ornaments that my mother and grandmother gave me along with some new fun ornaments too.
I decorated the mantel with a long evergreen garland and sparkly red snowflakes, a snow globe and a white and gold angel.
While we were decorating on Saturday, we had a light snow. It was beautiful. Galen took this photo of our house from across the street the next morning....by then some of the snow had already melted. Snow doesn't last very long here in the south but it was pretty while it lasted.
Enjoy your day!

It's looking very festive at your house, Donna. I love how you have your mom and grandma's ornaments on your tree.
We got a tiny bit of snow Saturday too. It was fun while it lasted.
Your house looks beautiful & festive!
Your tree is beuatiful!;)) I recall the American trees are so full, here they are more thinner.;)
Red and gold is my favorite too, these days I keep mostly to red.;) I am pretty sure I have exactly the same ornament as that golden ball in your image, except mine is red (purchased in NC). You can see it i my header.;))

Always knew your home was lovely, you're a lady with class.
I think my favorite decorations are the Christmas ornaments from your mother and grandmother...it warms my heart.
Can't do any decorating here till after the 16th... new windows(done today) and inside being painted plus some electrical work.
But for me...that's a great Christmas gift.
Donna,
Your decorations make one want to come in and sit for a cup of tea....so warm and cozy....
I love that you use your Mom's and Grandmother's ornaments; I too love the old ones and all the memories they bring back at this time of year.....
You got more snow in Wilson than we did in Winston Salem...but as I remember, it usually doesn't stay around too long.....
Keep warm....
Hi Donna, your tree looks so lovely....Happy holidays to you. I put mine up on the weekend, it is such a pretty thing to look at in this colder and darker weather.
