Double frames

I was happy to find these double picture frames at Goodwill the other day, and for only $1.00.  And guess what I had in mind for them?

Yes, Otis and Riley.  These are prints that I made of my original paintings.

My two very special boys.  And even though Riley is no longer with us, I look at his sweet little face and am reminded of all the good times we shared.   It's hard to think about one without the other ~ that's why I was happy to find a double frame like this.

Look what's growing in my garden.....

wiener dogs!

Otis and Riley like sitting in the veggie garden.

Whether it's sunning themselves beside the lettuce and radishes,

sniffing the lemon balm and walking past the onions and sweet peas.....

it's a real chore keeping them out of the veggie beds. I guess I should be thankful they're not eating them.

Enjoy your day!

Wiener time....

The wieners have been enjoying their time outside lately with the warmer temperatures we've been having.

Sitting in the bright warm sun......

and watching and waiting for squirrels....

....and after all that outside fresh air, it's nice to come inside for a nap.

~~~~~~~~~~~
I painted a dachshund painting.
Riley was my subject this time since Otis modeled last time.
Oh, how they love the attention, and they think it's wonderful to see their faces painted on a canvas.
I'm putting this dachshund painting on my etsy shop and you can buy it here. If you would like a painting of your pet, just email me.
The wiener dogs.
A half-a-dog high, and a dog-and-a-half long.
Enjoy your day!
Doggie day
Time for Otis and Riley to visit the groomer and get their nails clipped.
Nail clipping........
they're not very happy about,
riding around in the car.....they love.
Otis is wondering how in the world do I drive, hold them in my lap and take pictures at the same time.
I'm actually pretty good at it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A quick five minutes at the groomer is all it takes.
That's it ~ 5 little minutes.

They really do like their groomer, even though Otis acts like she's killing him.
She always gives them treats.

Treats they like.

After the groomers, it's off to the park to run off some steam.

And then home again.

Just a bit of a doggie day!

Enjoy your day!
Donna

January 2010, and Pet Paintings

It's a new year!

The holidays are over ~ we've had our traditional good luck meal on New Year's Day (pork and sauerkraut, a Lancaster County tradition), and now (for me, anyway) it's a time for new visions, new ideas, new hopes and dreams, maybe new decorating ideas, new gardens...... NEW ANYTHING! I always feel a new energy in January (after all the holiday decorations are put away).

One of my NEW ideas that I've come up with this year is to paint "pet portraits".

Over the holidays I did some paintings for friends and family. As you know, Otis and Riley (my two little dachsunds) have been a subject of my paintings for sometime, so I knew it would be fun to paint other pets.

I was comissioned to paint the cutest little dog ~ his name is Jake. You can meet Jake at Linda n Jake's blog.

This is "Jake". Isn't he just the cutest?

This is "Dasher". He is my daughter's dog. Beautiful, loveable and the best temperment.

Meet "Bear". He's a friend of Otis and Riley's.

And, of course, Otis and Riley (the loves of my life), and two sweetest doxies around.

If you'd like to have a pet painting, any pet, please email me at dnlongenecker@netscape.net. For a painting 8x8 or smaller the cost is $40.00. All you have to do is send me a favorite photo of your pet.
Happy New Year everyone!
