Fluffing the pillows and decorating the bedroom

While I was cleaning the bedroom this morning I decided to make a few decorating changes. New pictures, different pillows on the bed and a few other things.    

  

 I replaced cream colored pillows with these flowered pillows.  I made the pillows myself a few years ago ~ loved the fabric.  

I now use this pink beaded votive candle holder for some of my rings and other small pieces of jewelry.  

I hung the painting that I painted of the old garden table, on the one wall beside the bed.  

This small antique jewelry box sits on the window sill.    

I hung another painting (one that my daughter painted) in this corner above the old pine blanket chest.  

A soft throw on the bed and the room is finished.  It feels warm and summery now!    

Yummy colors...

....to accessorize the bedroom.

Rosy, coral, salmon ~ that's how I would describe these yummy fabrics that will be used for throw pillows on the bed in our bedroom. My sister gave me these scraps of fabric the other day which she never used and I immediately thought, bedroom pillows. I love the warm colors!

Our bed is covered with a cream colored quilted bedspread and shams (very neutral), and the walls in the bedroom are a light mocha color (also very neutral). The drapes are a terra cotta salmon color.

Soft yellow pillows on the bed and a mustard colored throw bring in a warm sunshine feeling. Standing in the one corner is a painted chest of drawers also in a mustard color.


The large dark mahogany armoire beside our mahogany sleigh bed brings in more warmth and on top is an old creamy yellow sewing box and a few antique crocks.

As you can see, I love warm colors and the new rosy, coral, salmon fabric will bring in a nice punch of color.


I think a bedroom should be a relaxing retreat at the end of the day with all your favorite colors surrounding you.

Decorating again

I'm in the bedroom today doing a little bit of rearranging and fluffing. I had the urge to hang some new pictures and put some new pillows on the bed.

This room faces north east so there's not a lot of sunshine in here during the day, however it does get the early morning sun.

That's why I like to use warm colors.

My daughter made a dream pillow for me filled with herbs like lavender, chamomile and lemon balm....all those wonderful fragrant herbs that are so calming. It's kept right beside my bed.

I brought in this picture that my brother painted. I like the colors and the old look that it has about it.

Do you keep the jewelry that you wear everyday or most frequently out on your bureau so that it's easily accessible? I think my pile is getting out of hand. A little organization needed here.
