Gourd vines and an update

If you remember, a few weeks ago I planted some gourd seeds.  I never planted gourds before.  Galen made a nice wire grid for the gourds hoping they would somehow find a way to climb up and hang down over.  The leaves got huge and then the vines started coming up.
And much to our surprise the gourd vines did exactly what they were supposed to do, grow right up through the grid.  They look like they are reaching to the sky.  Isn't it amazing how mother nature works.
Now I'm hoping for some beautiful gourds.

And and update:

Some of you may be wondering how I am doing.  I feel great.  My body has had time to heal and my energy is coming along.  Still dealing with some neuropathy but it's not that bad.  My hair is growing back and feels like peach fuzz.  I wish it would grow faster...did I mention, I'm learning patience.
Surgery is scheduled in a few weeks and I have been thinking about it quite a bit.  I am having a bi-lateral which I've wanted from the start.  Since being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, my concern is whether they will get it all at the time of surgery.  The tumor and 15 lymph nodes under my arm will be removed.  Will they get it all?  Will it come back again somewhere else in my body?  I try not to think of these things but I do.  It's probably because surgery is right around the corner.

Well, until then, I have plenty to do.
As long as I keep busy and stay positive, I'm pretty sure everything will work out fine.

Hi Donna... I hope that you do some fun things now before surgery.Things that will take your mind off the surgery and keep you busy. I had 10 days before my brain surgery...it was filled with phone calls to friends who I hadn't talked to in years....and time gathering things that I wanted to do while recuperating.Meals to put in the freezer...walks around the neighborhood, dinners and lunches out with friends, and trying to calm myself through meditation. The last didn't work, however. Whatever you love to do...do it now....Just remember that God led you safely through the first phase of this disease and he'll be with you through your surgery.

The vines are beautiful? The support is super too. Don't know how you're doing it so smoothly and gracefully. Carry on.

I have never tried to grow gourds before. They are amazing!

I can't even begin to pretend to know what you are going through leading up to your surgery. The vines finding support can be a sort of simile. They grow in the perfect direction they need to thrive and you are doing the same. I am sending you support from afar....
Hugs,
Penny

Donna, your gourd vine looks great. We grew some two years ago and they nearly took over the yard, even though we had them on a tutor.
Thank you for your update. It's good that you're staying busy and enjoying your garden and looking forward to when your surgery is over. Hugs and prayers are still coming your way.

So glad you're feeling well! They say having a good attitude certainly helps beat cancer. If it does then you'll be cancer free before you know it! Love those gourd platforms. It's amazing how things work out. Mimi
