Resting.....

I'm home.
Surgery went well and I am resting comfortably.
I spent two days in the hospital and I am enjoying the back porch again.
The pain is bearable....the incisions are healing, only one drain tube left (3 were removed yesterday on a followup visit), my armpits hurt, actually everything hurts, but I know it will get better.

The pathology report came back and that was good with the fact that radiation will follow.

I am doing my arm exercises, walking, and napping with Otis and Riley.

Thank heavens it's over.....

and thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh no......surgery time

It's hard to believe it's actually here, after all these months.
Monday morning, 11:15am,  I am scheduled for surgery....
the day I've been looking forward to and dreading at the same time.
The butterflies are flitting around in my stomach as I write this.

(deep breath)

And after it's all over, I will be back,

untill then....

please keep me in your prayers.

Gourd vines and an update

If you remember, a few weeks ago I planted some gourd seeds.  I never planted gourds before.  Galen made a nice wire grid for the gourds hoping they would somehow find a way to climb up and hang down over.  The leaves got huge and then the vines started coming up.
And much to our surprise the gourd vines did exactly what they were supposed to do, grow right up through the grid.  They look like they are reaching to the sky.  Isn't it amazing how mother nature works.
Now I'm hoping for some beautiful gourds.

And and update:

Some of you may be wondering how I am doing.  I feel great.  My body has had time to heal and my energy is coming along.  Still dealing with some neuropathy but it's not that bad.  My hair is growing back and feels like peach fuzz.  I wish it would grow faster...did I mention, I'm learning patience.
Surgery is scheduled in a few weeks and I have been thinking about it quite a bit.  I am having a bi-lateral which I've wanted from the start.  Since being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, my concern is whether they will get it all at the time of surgery.  The tumor and 15 lymph nodes under my arm will be removed.  Will they get it all?  Will it come back again somewhere else in my body?  I try not to think of these things but I do.  It's probably because surgery is right around the corner.

Well, until then, I have plenty to do.
As long as I keep busy and stay positive, I'm pretty sure everything will work out fine.
