I'd like you to meet my "friend".....

everyday he visits my garden,

he eats all the birdseed,

digs in my flower pots,

and aggravates Otis and Riley.

My friend, Mr. Squirrel.

We have squirrel proof bird feeders that we got from Wild Birds Unlimited. Otherwise, the squirrels would eat a feeder full of seed everyday!

These feeders really work.

I absolutely adore squirrels! I have some that live in the tree outside our kitchen window, and they provide hours of entertainment. I adore them. We also have birds that come bathe in the fountain, but the squirrels sitting on the fountain's head with a tail hanging down are the cutest. It looks like Daniel Boone in a coonskin cap! LOL!

XO,

Sheila :-)

LOL! I "adore" squirrels too except when they won't leave my new planted vegetable seeds and plants alone!! But I don't mind them eating "some" seeds and grains (I have chickens so let them clean up the excess..beats rats!)

Hi Donna, Ow boy, the squirrels. I have major problems with them where I live as well.. I think I'm not quite as fond of them because of all the trouble they cause in the yard. Sometimes they dig up my annuals, right out of the pots. I've started using pepper flakes when I plant to deter them from wanting to dig. AARGH!!!!!!

I've had a few troublesome squirrels in the past so I know how annoying they can be. One would take a bite out of every fig in my fig tree and then throw them to the ground. Another ate all the eggplants that were growing in my garden. I tried hot pepper spray which helped a little --but don't get that in your eyes...ouchie!

We have a family of squirrels in our backyard too. They are cute and fun to watch but they're kind of pesky too. Makes our little Betsy crazy with all the chattering. Mimi

We have lots of squirrels, but I put pinecones in the pots for mulch and they don't dig the flowers up. They used to clean out my bird feeders, but now I buy big bags os shelled corn and put it out in piles on the sidewalk or in flower pot saucers around the yard-they would rather have the corn than birdseed. Now they are fat and happy and to lazy to do a lot of damage!lol!!

I think your friend's extended family have taken up residence in my yard. LOL.
Peanut tries to scare them away from her perch on the back of the couch, but it rarely fazes them.

His cousins live at our house - and they do the same thing.

I'm going to check with Penny because I haven't purchased a squirrel proof bird feeder that worked yet.
