January 2010, and Pet Paintings

It's a new year!

The holidays are over ~ we've had our traditional good luck meal on New Year's Day (pork and sauerkraut, a Lancaster County tradition), and now (for me, anyway) it's a time for new visions, new ideas, new hopes and dreams, maybe new decorating ideas, new gardens...... NEW ANYTHING! I always feel a new energy in January (after all the holiday decorations are put away).

One of my NEW ideas that I've come up with this year is to paint "pet portraits".

Over the holidays I did some paintings for friends and family. As you know, Otis and Riley (my two little dachsunds) have been a subject of my paintings for sometime, so I knew it would be fun to paint other pets.

I was comissioned to paint the cutest little dog ~ his name is Jake. You can meet Jake at Linda n Jake's blog.

This is "Jake". Isn't he just the cutest?

This is "Dasher". He is my daughter's dog. Beautiful, loveable and the best temperment.

Meet "Bear". He's a friend of Otis and Riley's.

And, of course, Otis and Riley (the loves of my life), and two sweetest doxies around.

If you'd like to have a pet painting, any pet, please email me at dnlongenecker@netscape.net. For a painting 8x8 or smaller the cost is $40.00. All you have to do is send me a favorite photo of your pet.
Happy New Year everyone!

Donna, I wish you success with this. Your paintings are fantastic, and I know you will do well.

Now, if I only had a puppy.

Donna, you did a beautiful job with the portraits. That one that you painted of Otis and Riley has always been a favorite of mine. That little Shih Tzu that you painted is adorable.
