Books

Curling up with a good book and a mug of hot coffee is just what the day called for. It was cold and gray outside.

Otis and Riley relaxed and enjoyed the crackling fire, while I got toasty warm under the fleece throw.

I just finished reading "Mrs. de Winter", the sequel to the old classic "Rebecca" by Daphne de Maurier. Did you know there was a sequel to Rebecca? I didn't until I found it one day on my travels to Goodwill.

The book I'm reading now is "Power of a Woman" by Barbara Taylor Bradford, another book I found at Goodwill. Our Goodwill has tons of books and it's always fun to browse and of course, bring one home.

The accumulation of books around our house is growing and I find it hard to let go any of them. I love books. I use them for decorative pieces throughout the house.

You'll find them on side tables,

in the breakfront, along with other accessories and family photos,

on the coffee table in the living room,

in the dining room cubboard,

in the kitchen,

in the study on top of the desk,

and even on the shelf above our bed in the bedroom.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

I hope you're enjoying a good book today!

Donna, you have a lovely house. And curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee in front of the fireplace is my favorite past time too.
Never knew there was a sequel to Rebeca, have to get that one for sure.;))

I've always loved books too Donna.
They are the best companions on a cool rainy day...along with two little dogs of course!

A great post, Donna, I'm a fanatical reader when I'm not obsessively painting. ; ) Is that a vintage Betty Crocker in your collection?
Love the new header...

Donna - I thought I was the only one left with that Betty Crocker Cook Book... wow, nice to see another one around. Mine is 45 years old and still hanging in there

Your book photos are great. I love how books add warmth and beauty to a room.

Love the Otis & Riley pictures too... nothing like a cup of tea or coffee and a dog (or two) keeping you company.

Oh, Donna Dear! - FINALLY someone who shares my passion for the love of books! My hubby thinks that I'm crazy - but isn't it so, that each and every book that you read becomes a part of you ... your being? I can never part with any book that I've read ... ever! Now - I'm not stingy - I'll share. But, I also write my name inside the cover so that it will find its way back to me. Actually - I've most recently decided (when I realized that my mom and mom-in-law had a FEW of my books) that I should start having them sign them out .... (smile). You know - late fees and all! HA!! :) Perhaps then, they will find it necessary to finish a book within 6 months of taking it from my home. (please know that I am kidding here ... well, kind of.)

Just LOVE this post!! And, love the fact that you dress your home with your love!!
