Wood

Having a hubby with a woodshop has it's advantages.  I have access to scraps of wood, all shapes and sizes.
Over the weekend this nice thick piece of wood jumped out at me....
then it found it's way to my art table.

I finished the painting today.

A painted egg

This is an idea Galen came up with. A project ~ wooden egg mounted on a small wood base with a painting on the inside ~ (he was imagining a faberge egg).

So, after the wooden egg was cut out and carved, it was ready for paint. I painted it with an Easter painting, since it will be going to the museum shop downtown, yes, Easter already!

And here is the finished egg ~

a little chick inside her egg house and the Easter Bunny stopping by for a visit.

A faberge egg? I don't know. A stretch of the imagination, I'd say.

Enjoy your day!

Pretty Pink!

Victorian and vintage came to mind as I was painting this wooden vanity tray.

This is a handmade wooden tray that DH made. It's smaller than the serving trays that he's been making and when he brought it in from the shop I thought it would be perfect for a vanity tray. Pink was the first color that came to mind.

It's square, 8-1/2 x 8-1/2, and has metal brushed gold leaf handles on two sides.

Oh so pretty in pink, and very victorian, shabby chic, and vintage all rolled into one!

You can find it in my etsy shop.

A painting

I've had this block of wood on my art table for weeks, and I've finally decided to do something with it. (Galen's always cutting wood for different projects in his shop and sometimes he'll bring a piece in and lay it on my art table.)

Here's what I came up with.........flowers!

And my inspiration?................

my sofa pillow.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, and it should look great hanging in the living room or dining room since the colors came from the pillow.

Hmmmmm.......I'm thinking maybe some note cards next.
