Hello sunshine

Nothing feels better than warm sunshine on your face and Otis loves it as much as I do.  Finally, we're getting some lovely springtime weather.   I'm not sure how long it will last but for now we are enjoying it.

I am puttering in the garden today, weeding, and digging up soil with compost and getting beds ready for planting, cutting back liriope and pruning some shrubs.  Aren't the petite purple violas so pretty with their little faces to the sun?

It feels so good being out in the sunshine after the cold icy weather we've been having.  It sure has been a long winter.  Praying spring will be here before we know it!

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Mosaic with swans

I want to show you my latest mosaic project I finished today. I love mosaics and every now and then I find I just have to make some kind of art out of broken pieces of pottery or glass. This one was started using a terra cotta flower pot saucer. Mosaics are fairly easy to do, and the more you work with them, the easier they get.

This is the finished dish. Three little porcelain swans were added on the lip to give it a bit of artful whimsy. These figurines can be found at thrift shops ~ flower figurines can be pretty too, also little people figurines.

I always end up mixing more grout than I need when doing these mosaic projects, so this face that I formed from the extra grout will go nicely in the garden. A little bit of paint and he'll be finished.

One art project that turned into two!

Garden face

I think it's fun having faces in the garden in unexpected places.

I made this garden face out of some leftover grout from my mosaic garden stone, if you remember, here.

I brushed on some forest green paint to give him some depth.

He's hanging on the garden fence keeping watch over the garden.

Enjoy your day!
