Harvesting beets this morning

I was out in the garden early this morning before the heat came.  It's going to be another hot and humid day here in NC...98 degrees today.  Whewww!

I picked a basket full of beets,

an arm full of tomatoes,

and a few onions.

I think we'll be having these yummy healthy veggies tonight for dinner.

How's your garden growing?

It's been so cool and damp here that not much of anything is growing - but a few sunny days will get it all moving along!

I only grow flowers. There's not a sunny enough spot for veggies except the front yard.

Your beets look really good. I love beets, but never tried to grow them. Hmm. I'll put them on the list for next year. On second thought, do you think I'd have time to plant them now? We just picket our first tomato last week. I was late putting the plants out,but that's ok..they have till frost. Hugs,Babs

What a great harvest! As you know my garden this year consists of my portable containers on my deck. We have tons of green tomatoes, but no red yet.

Beets are one of my favorite veggies. I don't know why I have never planted them. I see them at our farmer's market and like to buy them when they are very small.
My tomatoes are thriving in this really hot weather. Water, water, water...that's all I do outside right now.
Have a happy 4th.

Beautiful produce dear Donna, there is nothing like home grown vegetables.;)
Our garden is growing well, I have the most amazing campanula this year, no vegetables I am afraid, that will have to be saved for coming years.;))

Those veggies look yummy!

I've never grown beets but we love them so they are on my list.

I've been picking cherry tomatoes but today was the first day I picked a big one. It's been so hot here that the tomatoes don't even like it!
