A sigh of relief

Hello all my dear friends and family.  Last Thursday and Friday were big days for me at the cancer center but I made it through.  I had a cardial ultrasound, a port placement, a bone scan and a cat scan all in two days.  At the end of the day on Friday we met with the doctor and I was given good results from all the tests.  And, the cancer is confined to the mass in the breast and two nodes only.  Yea!

Chemotherapy starts Thursday.  Ugh...the dreaded chemo.
I'm not sure I'm ready for this.  Chemo will be scheduled every 2 weeks for 16 weeks.  All of the side effects are weighing heavy on my mind right now, so I'm trying really hard to focus on other things, good things.
After the chemo is finished, then will come surgery, and after surgery  I will have 6 weeks of radiation.
A bit overwhelming.  It's like a whole year of my life is being taken away from me.

Soooooo....

......I am focusing on the beautiful sunshine today and letting the warmth feed my heart and soul.  It's amazing how the sunshine is like medicine for me.....lifting my spirits and healing my body.  Makes me forget about everything bad!  Just spending time in the garden helps a lot.  The bumblebees are buzzing and the flowers are starting to bloom,  and Otis and Riley are always by my side.

I am having good days and bad days, happy days sad days and that's just the way it will be for awhile.

In about 3 weeks I will lose my hair.  Not too happy about that.  I already cut my hair short and was fitted for a wig.  It's funny, the first wig I tried on I looked like Dolly Parton.  Ha!  I finally found one more suitable and maybe I'll even show you later.

Thank you for all of your prayers and kind words.  Think of me as I take this a day at a time.

Hi Donna,
You can be sure I will be thinking of you. As a matter of fact I have thought of you often since you shared your news with us.
It is good to hear from you and so glad you were able to breathe a sigh of relief after your tests.
I will say a prayer for you as you begin your treatments on Thursday. You are dealing with a lot right now, but I think you are smart to focus on the beauty of nature and the love of your family and doggies.
As a side note I recently stumbled upon a blog of a very inspiring young woman going through cancer treatment. The blog is lilblueboo.com. I think you might find it inspiring too.
Sending healing thoughts and love your way.
Hugs,
Kim

You seem quite normal to me. I wonder if you would feel better posting more about your turn in the road of life or prefer keeping most things to yourself. Please consider sharing as you will not be the last to venture down this well travelled road.

The sun is shining here too. I'll splash some rays your way since you seem to like it so much more than me.

Education, Faith, and Courage are yours.

Donna, I'm happy for your good news. That is really the most important thing because now you know exactly what you are dealing with.

You will get through the rest of it just fine. My hair stylist had breast cancer years ago, she survived it all and her hair let me tell you, grew back beautifully. I don't think you will have any problems.

Hugs,

Ruth

Donna,
That sounds like very good news. I know the chemo is scary and difficult to face and I'll keep you in my prayers.
My cousin's hair was brown sprinkled with lots of gray before the chemo and after her hair came back in, she no longer had any gray hair.
God Bless,
Cathie

Hey Donna,

Someone somewhere said to think of Chemo as your friend. It's the lifesaving medicine that you need. Maybe that will make the nuisance more bearable.

Love ya.

Donna, I am holding you close in my heart and prayers.

I read a phrase about the cancer journey once. It is "tie a big knot in your rope, and hold on". I thought of it often during our family journey. It is so important to let your family and friends care for you and love you. God put them in your life for a reason. You have always been there for them, too.

I'll be loving you from here.♥

Oh, Donna! I have been away and unable to blog, and I hate to hear that you have to go through chemo. I pray that all will be well with you and that this will be over quickly.

I'm so sorry I haven't been blogging. I've had computer issues and am on Mr. Magpie's work computer tonight. Don't know when I am going to have a chance to get a new one because I am up to my eyeballs in life stuff... Adelaide's husband had a triple bypass (unexpected), and another friend's husband is in the final days of pancreatic cancer. I have had no time to blog which I miss SO much.

I hope to be back by the end of spring. I miss you and all of my blogging buddies.

Take good care...

XO,

Sheila :-)
