Catching rainwater

I've been watering the garden and all my hanging plants with rainwater collected from our rain barrel. These past few weeks have been brutal and everything is so dry from the heat. Yesterday was 102 degrees and the next few days will be the same.

I can't say I like the looks of these barrels (not to mention where to hide them) but when it comes time to give my poor thirsty dried up plants a drink, I am very thankful for this ugly black barrel.

Right now I am waiting for a break in this heat and for some cool refreshing raindrops to fall.

If I could I'd blow some of our cool, wet air down your way. We are still waiting for summer here on the coast.

Good Afternoon Donna!
Your garden looks so green and lush even if you haven't had much rain. You're hot like us here in Kansas but I hope it hasn't been 27 days of triple digit temperatures like we've been having. I LOVE the rain barrel...in fact I have mentioned having a rain barrel (at least one) here on the farm to my hubby a number of times. I think with the drought we've been experiencing this summer he may just listen to me this time ;) LOL! I hope you get rain soon...enjoy!

It may not be the prettiest but it sure does do the job!

I am going to have rain barrels when I move next year, (hopefully for the last time). If they are plastic you could paint them with paint made for plastic, just a thought if you wanted to make them cuter...;-)

It is so good to conserve water this way! I reuse the water my basement dehumidifier takes out of the air..gallons a day!
