A walking trail

Don't you just love it when you find a new walking trail? A really nice walking trail? Our friend told us about this one ~ Battle Park in Rocky Mount, about a half hour away. So we checked it out recently.

Our first stop on the way there was the "Highway Diner" for lunch. We were sure we could walk off the extra calories from the highway burger and fries, so we enjoyed our lunch, and a strawberry milkshake too!

Battle Park is a 56.5 acre park located in Rocky Mount on Falls Road and the Tar River. As you can see, it has a nice wide macadem asphalt trail.

Beautiful Cypress trees.

It has several picnic areas and several different places were you can pick up the trail and walk as far as you like.

This is a Confederate Revolutionary War Memorial.

Here is the old Rocky Mount sewing mill built in 1817. There were a lot of the original mill houses still standing and are now being restored.

It was a gray day when we took this walk, but I managed to find some pretty blooms,

and bluebird houses everywhere.

So, not only is this a fabulous walking trail but also a very historical one too. Next time we bring the weiners with us!

It's such a great place! I'll bet it'll be even better in the late spring/summer. Mimi

That looks like a great place to walk. I like how they have the bluebird houses and I was surprised to see Cypress Trees.
Sounds like a perfect day to me.
