A pottery day

Every year Finch Pottery has an open house on the second Sunday in November. This year it was the perfect fall day. Located just outside of Bailey, North Carolina...

a beautiful location in the country on the family's tobacco farm.

Approximately 70 vendors were showing their creative wares, some familiar ones and some new ones, too. So many wonderful pieces to look at. I'm a big fan of pottery and can't resist buying a new coffee mug every year.

Dan Finch's blueberry plants and his famous blue bird houses were for sale.

Check this out! The (huge) wood fired Anagama Kiln (had to look that one up).

Below is a demonstration of raku pottery, just one of the types of pottery taught byDan Finch.

Looking inside Dan Finch's studio you can see a potter working.

My sister and brother in-law spent the day with us and we took this photo in the rock garden.

A great day!

Looking forward to next year's open house!

Oh, and this is my new coffee mug! Love it. (made by Sandra Paschall, Rougemont, NC)

Most people are like me in a sense. They may know little of the subject, apart from what they see. Though I know little of pottery, I know what I see as beauty. very nice.

I sooo envy you.
Would love to take the whole store home with me.
How you managed to settle on just a cup....don't know. :)

This is my first time here - enjoyed it very much. I love the watercolor of your house...very nice work.

And I love Otis and Riley - I've been begging my hubby for a weiner dog (only one). Sigh...we'll see...
