Pansies and cabbages

It's a good day for fall planting. The weather is mild today, high 68, sunny and beautiful.

I'm planting pansies and ornamental cabbages.

The pansies will go in pots on the back porch and by the doors, and the ornamental cabbages (kale) will go in the window boxes on the front of the house. I chose pretty creamy yellow and maroonish colored pansies this year.....so many colors to choose from, and the nice thing is they will bloom until next spring and early summer. The kale will continue to grow all year and if you cut it back in the summer it will come up again in the fall.

That's what I'm doing today....happily digging in the dirt!

What are you up to today?

Hi Donna, it is nice that you are able to go out planting. It is cold here today, mostly windy, which of course makes it seem colder. In the next few days I really need to go clean my garden out.

I'm at work today, but tonight I will be crocheting dishrags to sell at the Farmer's Market this weekend. I sold most of my stock at last weekend's craft show. Pink dishrags last night...blue and green disrags tonight...who knows what color on Thursday?

Donna the pansies and cabbages you are planting today are really pretty! I love them this time of year. When we lived up North they didn't last very long but here the pansies last usually all winter into the Spring. They are such happy little plants!

I love pansys...they are such happy flowers!

I have put my garden to sleep for the winter...except for my potted herbs, which are still going strong and hopefully will allow me to use fresh herbs in my Thanksgiving cooking!

I plant pansies in the Fall also, I love little burst of color all around the yard. I have never tried the cabbages, they sound hearty. I am busy making things for gifts and such. I hope you have beautiful day in the yard.

Gosh - I couldn't imagine being able to plant at this point in the year ... lucky duck! :) We're enjoying the very last of the autumn leaves and waiting for the snow that I'm sure will be around the corner - especially since the weatherman was calling for it last Saturday! Hopefully, we'll get more sledding in this year ... :)
