Fall planting

Today was the perfect day to do some fall planting. I was at the garden center and picked up some mums, ornamental cabbages and a rose bush.

My little helpers are always nearby.

I like to buy ornamental cabbages in the fall and these will go in my window boxes. Love that purple color.

This Knock Out Rose was only $5.00, hard to pass up. It's a pretty creamy yellow and I thought it would look great in the front of the house. You can't go wrong with a Knock Out Rose.

I planted one of the yellow mums out by the garden....

and the other one by the back door.

The creamy yellow Knock Out Rose looks perfect beside the Virginia Sweetspire (one of my most favorite shrubs).

The window boxes, as you can see, are still blooming with summer color so I will wait to plant the ornamental cabbages.

There are still a lot of summer blooms to enjoy, and now some fall ones too.

Hope you're enjoying this beautiful time of year!

Looking good Donna! I just bought a yellow knock out rose a couple of weeks ago...But you got the better deal. I think I paid $20 for mine at Home Depot....

I was at my favorite nursery the other day. Started to buy some of the ornamental cabbages, but didn't. I think I will go out and get some later though. Your little helpers look ready to tackle any job!

You're right Donna. Fall is a great time of year to plant. I love it that we can grow things through the winter. So much better than getting prepared for snow!
