I'm in the mood for fall.....

and homemade apple pie.

Did you ever try to peel an apple and cut the peel in one long continuous spiral piece? Everytime I peel apples, that's what I do. My grandmother would do this whenever she made an apple pie or just peeled an apple for us to eat. I remember sitting patiently, watching her peel the apple and when she was finished I would gobble up that long peel.

My apple pie is baking in the oven right now and the whole house smells heavenly.

Homemade apple pie for dessert tonight!

That is such a sweet memory of time spent with your grandmother. It's funny you should mention peeling apples like that. When I made apple butter last week I was purposely trying to make one long peel. It seemed kinda fun and a good way to break the monotony of all that peeling :).
Your pie looks so delicious. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Hi Donna, apple pie is my favorite and I love it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I usually make a couple of pies for Thanksgiving...apple is always the favorite. Enjoy.

I made an apple crumb pie last weekend. And yes, I do try to peel an apple that way!

I can't make a pie crust worth diddly. I do remember my grandmothers cutting away on that apple until it was one long strip. Always amazed me too.

My husband peels all fruit that way, Donna. I am a "messy" peeler...lol

Your pie looks so pretty! I made a maple spice pound cake yesterday that was delicious. Next time I'll add some chopped apples to the batter.
