Butterfly surprise

It's been quite warm here in Eastern North Carolina and today it will hit 90 degrees. I was watering my plants and flowers in the back yard this morning because everything looked so dry and stressed when, to my surprise....

this beautiful Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly fluttered around me and landed on the red geranium ~
ah! it just lifted my spirits!

There haven't been very many butterflies this year, (not like other years)
so it was the most lovely surprise.

Butterflies have a way of doing tht don't they? :) Come to think of it, we haven't had as many butterflies this year as we have had in the past either..
have a great day Donna!

Beautiful pictures of the Swallowtail Donna. I have them around here too . Funny enough, every time I saw one this summer I ran outside like a crazy woman with the camera and the little guy was always gone, I don't think he wanted me to photograph him. : )

What a lovely surprise indeed! I love butterflies-they are so graceful floating along in the garden. Thanks for sharing.

I've had lots of butterflies, but few hummingbirds. Oh, and I've had tons of dragonflies. A high of 90 here would be cool.
