Thriving in the summer heat

This daisy-like flower called Gaillardia, or blanket flowers, is the perfect flower to have in your garden during these hot hot days that we've been having.

Plant them and enjoy them.
They need very little water or food.

We did get some much needed rain this weekend. I like to take my ferns and other potted flowers off my porch and put them out on the patio and let them drink up the cool refreshing rain water.

They love it!

Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head
with silver drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

That quote is quite beautiful. I killed my flowers off, the ones at the top of your post. Think I must have over watered them.

When I had ferns I used to set them out in the rain-they loved it and I think it was really good for them! They always seemed to perk up after a rainshower. Stay cool!

We have just had a brief shower but we are so dry in this area that the ground is cracking. Enjoy your rain, girl!

We'd sure like to be kissed by some rain right now!:0) We did get a little here last night... but not enough to make a difference. This kind of weather is when we question ourselves for planting so many flowers!
