Birds and bird houses

This morning I awoke to a bird singing outside the bedroom window. He was singing to his hearts content, loud and clear, and a beautiful song.

What a perfect way to wake up and start the day.

A few days ago I asked hubby to make a bird house for me, and of course you know he'll make anything I ask him to make. So this one came out of the shop yesterday. I painted it in a wash of blue and added a tiny grapevine wreath around the door.

It has a cedar shake roof and is made from yellow pine. Sturdy little house.
It should make the birds happy.

My hubby gets very creative in his shop. He's made a blue jay house, a little red hen house, and a cardinal bird house.

Birds are always welcome at here at Mourning Dove Cottage.

If I were a bird, I'd sing a song,
and fly about the whole day long,
and when the night comes, go to rest,
up in my cozy little nest.

Enjoy the birds today.

What lovely homes for birdies! Between you and your hubby ... the creativity seems endless!!! The blue-washed home is so welcoming and I just love the ones representing each of the birds.

My children just built bluebird houses and we can hardly wait until all the snow melts to go out into the yard and post them!

Blessings,
Jenny

I adore the new bird house. And wherever did you find the tiny wreath?
If I was a birdy I know where I would be headed right now!!

What wonderful birdhouses! I love each and every one. We just put up a bluebird house and feeder the other day and have some bluebirds already checking it out.

Donna, you and your husband create the most wonderful things. I love your new birdhouse, and I imagine it will soon have new inhabitants.

I am just back to work this week. It had been quite a while since I felt like visiting anyone, and I missed everyone.
