A trip to Boone, NC

We just returned from a wonderful mini vacation in Boone, North Carolina where we stayed in a little cabin in the woods with our oldest daughter and her husband and our granddaughter, and our son-in-law's mother, and four dogs.

We started out Thursday morning and the weather was clear, but by the time we arrived in Boone it was snowy and icy.

The cabin was nestled in the mountains and it was all quite beautiful.

A babbling brook ran beside the cabin ~ hence the name of our cabin "Babbling Brook".

Maddie, our granddaughter baked us fresh blueberry muffins one morning. She's at the age now where she's enjoying cooking and likes to help her dad, Chef Rob, in the kitchen. We had some very delicious meals!

The weather continued to be rainy and foggy, but that didn't stop us from being outside. Otis and Riley enjoyed the big front porch. Maddie had fun exploring the mountain side.

Boone, NC is the home of Appalacian State University. We drove around the town.

We shopped at the Mast General Store. Look at all that candy!

We visited a small town named Todd, which was not too far from our cabin. The Mercantile and Bakery was open so we did some shopping there too.

The Todd General Store was closed for the winter ~ a disappointment because we saw some really neat things through the windows.

Back at our cabin one afternoon, Galen managed to get a camp fire going despite the rainy weather and we roasted marshmellows and popped popcorn.

We had cozy fires inside, put a puzzle together, read books, played games, sat in the hot tub, ate good food, and enjoyed some rest and relaxation time.

We all enjoyed our vacation in the cabin at the mountains!

It was a great trip!

Hi Donna
What a lovely time you had. It's beautiful up near Boone. I think our friends may have stayed at the same place. It looks very warm and cozy. I recall them saying it had a babbling brook right beside it. I'll have to ask her.
Hugs, Rhondi

It looks and sounds just perfect, Donna. I am so glad you all had this wonderful time together.

We love that area, too. We often stay in West Jefferson. And, I love the store at Todd, too. I have a great cookbook I purchased there on one trip.

I'm so glad you could get away and enjoy such a nice time with your family. That is such a pretty area. My son was visiting a friend at Ap. State last weekend.
How nice that your granddaughter made muffins for you.
