I'm back

We just spent a few days in Pennsylvania for my brother's memorial service, and even though it was an emotionally exhausting weekend, I think now we have found a peace and will carry loving memories of Steve in our hearts forever.

It was a long day travelling back home in the car, but when the sun was out, the colors of the leaves were absolutely breathtaking and it made for a beautiful day.

I'm now glad to be home.

I wanted to show you my latest painting.

You know how I love geraniums, so I painted this little painting of red geraniums that were on my front porch.

4x5 acrylic on canvas

Bright and cheerful red geraniums.

Wouldn't it be nice if geraniums would last all year long?

such a pretty painting. i'm thinking of doing cuttings off my geraniums this year and growing them in my house. that way i don't have to buy new plants next summer. we'll see if i actually get it done or not. i tend to have big plans that never materialize.

meant to say as well that memorial services are good in that they give us a sense of closure. glad that peace is there for you and your family now.

These are beautiful Donna, and something tells me you will always think of your brother when you see them. Sending hugs and comforting thoughts from across the miles to you... I hope your heart is comforted by all the friends who are thinking of you right now.

Your note cards are so beautiful, I tried to order a box for Thanksgiving but cannot figure out how to pay by mail. I prefer this method rather than credit card or paypal. Is this possible?

Doona, I'm so glad that you are feeling at peace in your heart.

Your painting is lovely. I just remarked to my husband that I wish I could keep my geraniums over the winter. I've tried, but to no avail.

Hi Donna,
I'm a little behind in my blog visiting, but wanted you to know I have been thinking about you. I know the sense of peace you speak of. Though we will always miss our loved ones and life will never quite be the same, there is a peaceful feeling to know that they are not suffering anymore.

Your painting is so pretty. My geranium is still going strong.

Hugs,
Kim

Donna, this is really strange. I have been checking your blog almost daily, and for some reason, I didn't realize you were back OR that you had posted. I kept being sent to the post on Steve.

I'm glad you are back and that the memorial service went well. You are such a sweetheart, and I've been thinking of you this whole time.

And your geraniums are delightful!

XO,

Sheila :-)
