Digging in the dirt

I just planted a pink climbing rose bush that I got at Wal Mart for $5! I'm hoping it will climb the fence and look like........

this.

I also ordered a few foxglove plants from a mail order catalog. I love foxglove. I hope they look like...

this.

I planted some fresh mint in an old blue tin bucket that I had,

and got the beds ready for vegetables.

Otis and Riley enjoyed being outside and digging in the dirt (or should I say mud). See their wiggly waggly tails?

I think we need to clean paws before going inside.

Your roses will be beautiful when they start climbing! I planted early peas, lettuce and radishes in my raised bed 2 weeks ago and they are going great! But we are suppose to have a couple of evenings this next week with a low of 27. So I will cover the beds at night and hope they will do ok.

Have a great weekend!

Ah, isn't gardening just so therapeutic?;)
I am sure you rose will look gorgeous, roses seem to grow so well, at least they do here.
Foxglove is very popular to grow here as well, we call them "Country Roses".
And Otis and Riley look so cute.;)
Hope your Friday is lovely and your weekend as well.;)

Beautiful plants, Donna, and I adore foxglove! I couldn't get over the ones I saw in Maine a few years ago that were HUGE. Just lovely plants, and of course, roses are a favorite of mine. My grandmother used to have climbers, and I loved them so.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Donna,
You have such a beautiful garden, I'm sure your additions will look terrific! I love foxglove, but can't seem to grow the biennial kind. I do have lots of the small yellow perennial kind. They self seed like crazy. :)

Mary

That rose is beautiful!! I hope it looks like that for you when it blooms. I just got some mint from my daughter and son-in-law-don't you love fresh mint! I love foxgloves too, sending growing vibes your way! My Mom just did a watercolor with foxgloves in it and I already told her I either wanted the original or a print of it! I think she painted it with my 50th birthday in mind (which is in July).

I laughed out loud at the pic of Otis and Riley wagging their tails. They do look happy.
I never do well with roses, but I have had some success with foxgloves. I'm sure with your greenfingers they will all grow well.

Hi Donna,

Looks like Otis and Riley were having as much fun as you were in your garden. Your pink climbing roses will be beautiful in a few months and . . oh ... the foxgloves will be the perfect addition for your cottage garden.
Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Erin
