January freeze

The sun is shining bright this morning but the temperature is only 19 degrees!

When it's really cold outside I like to light candles. This is one of those glade scented oil candles. It smells so good.

I'm making toast and coffee and then I'm going outside to walk around in the garden.

Brrrrrrrrrr, it's cold. The water in the bird bath is frozen, and the ground cracks when I walk on it.

I filled the bird feeders yesterday. The birds must be freezing.

There seem to be plenty of berries for the birds to eat. Look at the nice blue sky.

And look how they've devoured the apple that I stuck in the tree.

My coffee is almost cold now. I'm going in, it's much too cold to be outside today!

Stay warm!

It's warming up a little here in Utah. It should be 40 degrees today. My husband has been in So. Calif. where they're having record setting heat. 83 degrees yesterday. Mimi

Today I'm even cold inside. I guess I'd better go make another cup of coffee. Your photos are lovely.

I can tell from your post and your readers comments that this cold snap is affecting a lot of people. I watched the weather report and it showed the jet stream swooping way down into the southern states.
I can't walk around my garden as I would be knee deep in snow. You managed to get some lovely photos..
hugs

You are brave to be out there walking about! I too have violets blooming. It never stops surprising me when it has been so cold. I wanted to get iris in my flower beds last year. Do you think it is too late to put some in? I live in the south like you do.

I enjoyed your walk around. It's still cold this morning, but not nearly as cold as the last few days.

I just sat down with my cup of coffee so I can visit a bit.

It's bright and sunny here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I miss the winters... funny? Yes, because we don't have winter here but only Monsoon showers and torrential falls...
