The bells

There's a church about two blocks from our house, and this morning when the bells chimed at 6:00 AM it sounded like they were right outside the bedroom window. We must have been on a down wind because today they were unusually loud.

The church bells ring on the hour and half hour, every day from 6:00 in the morning until midnight. It's a sound I love to hear; a comforting sound, and one that I would truly miss were they ever to cease ringing.

I love church bells so much, it is a sound I grew up with. They seldom ring here, perhaps by special request for a wedding or funeral. It was always a lovely way to observe the time.
The last time I heard them was leaving church on Christmas eve just after midnight. The snow was softly falling, and that along with the bells meant that Christmas was here. I was so moved that if I hadn't had anything else Christmas would have been perfect that year.
Thank you for reminding me Donna.

It is a wonderful sound. There is a church on the other side of our woods out back and in the summer we can hear them ring for early service. What a beautiful sound it is coming through the trees.

I love church bells. Our church is a few blocks away. When Pope John Paul II passed away, the bells chimed signaling something was wrong. I hear them and I can't help but feel a sense of comfort.

Love,
Julie

Oh how I love church bells. When we lived in England we had a 12th century church in our village and every Sunday I couldn't wait to hear the bells. It sure is music for the soul!

Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,

Hi Donna~
Thank you for visiting me! I'm enjoying your art, and blog...glad I followed you over!
We used to live near the sound of church bells ringing, they are such beautiful and reassuring sound. You can't help but stop what you are doing and listen.
