The mourning dove

On my walk with the dogs this morning I was contemplating about my next blog post.   I thought I'd share some pictures of the mourning dove that were nesting in our pergola this year and last year.

They have been building their nests in the lady banks rose which is quite dense. Their nesting period is about two weeks.  They nested twice this year.

I also have a picture of two of them on the birdbath last year. I love hearing their soft cooing throughout the day. Even though they are such an ordinary bird, they are still one of my favorites.
