I've decided my garden will have more roses this year.
Paging through my garden books, I'm gathering more ideas and more inspiration! I love the gravel garden above, and notice the red roses. I'm thinking maybe I could use this in one part of my garden.
Definitely more roses.....
now I just have to decide what kinds of roses and what colors and where to plant them......

Donna, I second that MORE ROSES YAY!! I love roses and I feel you can never have too many of them!
Last fall we installed the gravel pathways....this spring we plant. I agree with you....more roses! And I want more lavender too.

I love roses and my garden in built around them. My favorites are the pink ones. Right now they are all being pruned but in a couple of months it will be glorious.
What a great idea, I am sure roses will fit well in your beautiful garden and do well too.;)
I have one red rose and two small yellow rosebushes on my patio - I love them as they bloom late into the early winter.

How gorgeous, Donna! I love roses.
One variety that is pretty, but requires little attention... knockout roses. They take very little care, so you might want to put some of those in your garden in addition to climbers and other varieties. They are very hardy, and since I'm allergic to spray, I don't spray mine. The bushes we have are not so much for cutting as for enjoying in the flower bed, and they have a bloom that is a lovely shade of pinky red, or at least ours do.
I think the gravel is good, but be sure and put that garden fabric (can't think of what it's called)under it to prohibit weeds from popping through. We had pea gravel it in our yard, and that is very important.
I adore roses so I can't wait to see what you do.

we artist love our beautiful gardens,don't we. I subscribe to Country Garden magazine. You get it four times a year, one for each season. I love the Fall and Spring issue best. I get so excited when it comes in the mail!
One can never have too many roses! I'll be planting a few in our yard too. Loved the Norma Rae movie too. So inspiring. Makes me want to rent it this weekend. Mimi

Oh, how nice to be planning for the upcoming gardening season. Roses are so beautiful and smell so good. I ripped all of mine out a few years ago because as soon as they were about to bloom the Japanese Beetles devoured them. Now I just have Knockout Roses.
