As the cold wind blows, the gray skys linger and the mention of snow in the forecast, I find myself poring over my piles of books, catalogs and articles about gardening.
It's never too early to start thinking spring, right?
In fact, now is the time to plan your gardens!

And did you know January and February is a good time for clean up in the garden (weather permitting). Cut back your ornamental grasses and flowering vines, shear back liriope for new growth, and prepare your vegetable garden with organic matter. Also start browsing seed catalogs.
Don't forget to keep evergreens watered during dry weather, and prune wood ornamentals like your hydrangea and butterfly bush.
See! There's a lot of gardening to do right now in the dead of winter.

My garden is under a foot of snow this morning....
But I have been looking at gardening catalogs and thinking about ordering some heirloom tomotoes to be delivered at the right time.

I am not thinking of Spring just yet, although I love it. I am enjoying the snow, coffee, painting and being cozy! I love all the seasons including winter. I guess I'm odd, lol! Have a beautiful day!
Donna, are y'all getting snow there? It seems it's snowing everywehre but here in terms of the South.
I have pansies blooming, but my yard man is going to cover them for me at points this week. I'm out of town, so he is in charge. Let's hope so, anyway. LOL!

Hey Donna you are right Spring is right around the corner but you wouldn't know it with the 6 inches of snow we had today and now it is sleeting!! I have been thinking of gardening alot lately especially since the catalogs have been arriving! I love Riley playing with his bear-so cute!
You've reminded me of some tasks I must get done. I got the Country Gardens magazine in the mail the other day. Wanted to open it and delve in. But with snow on the ground, decided I'd wait for a day when I can truly imagine it while outside.

Yes I am thinking of spring and just bought some dahlia tubers this week. I have a lot of pruning to do before I can get to the 'fun' stuff. But planning is great!

I usually do my first gardening in February, cutting back my clematis.;) If I will do that this year depends on how much snow is sill left around by then:;))

Hi Donna, my outside garden is covered by snow at the moment but inside garden of orchids are keeping me cheerful and content at the moment. Am I thinking of spring?? Yes, I am, especially at this time of year....I'm not a snow person.
