She lives about an hour and a half away which is quite a long drive.
I packed up Otis and Riley, my overnight bag, my paint brushes and hit the road.
The first project we worked on was a utility shed that needed painting. It's located in a beautiful wooded, secluded area on a property that they own in the country. We enjoyed painting outside since it was a beautiful day, all the while listening to the birds, soaking up some sun, laughing and eating. Otis and Riley had fun as well, and discovered a little lizard in the shed which caused quite a commotion.
The second project was a fixer upper house that needed the kitchen cabinets painted. My sister started at one end of the cabinets and I worked the other end and we finished in the middle, one coat of primer and two coats of white paint. We also did a bathroom cabinet and a few doors. We finished up in two days. We always work well together, and the pleasure we get when making something old look new is so satisfying. That "decorating gene" kicks in and we love to make things pretty!
We enjoy our coffee breaks and cinnamon buns, and of course, we have to take some time out for the garden center which we did on the way to and from the house.
So last evening after all was done, we relaxed on the patio with mexican food and a glass of wine. We patted ourselves on the back for a job well done and did some planning for the next time we get together. I loaded Otis and Riley in the car with all of my stuff and a few plants which I bought and headed for home. Otis and Riley were tuckered out and slept like babies.

Both of my sisters are two and a half hours away, in opposite directions. I know what you mean about time together being precious. It's fun to reconnect over fixing this place up. I'm sure you had lots of laughs.
Otis and Riley seem to have enjoyed their mini vacation too.
