I couldn't help myself...I just had to pick a few more magnolia blooms at the park and bring them home with me. The sweet scent is intoxicating.
Early this year I transplanted a small magnolia tree in the front yard which I found growing under a holly bush. It just sprouted two leaves and I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it continues to grow.
This is a photo of one of the magnolia blooms after it died ~ there is a loveliness about it even after it is withered ~ it turns a beautiful umber brown.
I love the look of the leaves and the flowers on a magnolia tree.

A magnolia tree is something I wish we had in our yard, but I don't really have room for one.

Magnolias are beautiful! You can take the leaves and use them for place markers at a dinner table, by writing the guests name in gold ink on the leaf....White plates, white napkins, green magnolia leaf...looks very elegant...
